THE EMIGRATION OF MOROCCAN DOCTORS TO EUROPE

In Morocco, the debates on the emigration of Moroccan doctors to developed countries constitute one of the major concerns of political decision-makers. Every year, a large number of Moroccan doctors leave Morocco with no intention of returning. This leak therefore exacerbates the difficulties faced by the Moroccan health system. Thus, if extensive measures are not taken to limit the flight of Moroccan doctors and motivate them to stay and invest their efficiency in Morocco, the Moroccan health system will experience a shortage in terms of medical staff and a structural imbalance. Few studies have addressed the issue of the emigration of Moroccan doctors abroad due to the lack of statistical data. The objective of this study is to describe the situation of the flight of Moroccan doctors and to identify the reasons that push them to migrate to other countries. This is a cross-sectional study collected from January to April 2022 by an anonymous questionnaire, which was sent electronically to Moroccan doctors practicing abroad. This questionnaire, developed for the study, explored the reasons for expatriation, as well as the level of satisfaction with the new living conditions
