THE DEGREE OF THE SCHOOL’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF ‎CITIZENSHIP VALUES AMONG STUDENTS IN THE SULTANATE OF OMAN FROM THE ‎TEACHERS’ POINT OF VIEW AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO SOME VARIABLES

The study aimed to reveal the degree of the school’s contribution to the ‎development of citizenship values among students in the Sultanate of ‎Oman from the teachers’ point of view and its relationship to some ‎variables. The researcher prepared a questionnaire tool to achieve the ‎objectives of the study, which in its final form consisted of (43) phrases, ‎divided into five areas: national affiliation, citizenship rights, national ‎identity, duties and responsibilities, community and political participation. ‎After verifying its validity and reliability, it was applied to a sample ‎consisting of (115) senior teachers(male and female), and from (225) male ‎and female teachers.‎ The results of the study showed that the degree of the school’s ‎contribution to the development of citizenship values among students in ‎the Sultanate of Oman from the teachers’ point of view came to a medium ‎degree, as the arithmetic mean reached(3.26). Moreover, the results ‎indicated that there were no statistically significant differences between ‎the degree of the school's contribution to the development of students' ‎citizenship values due to the variable of the type of school and the variable ‎of the job.‎ The researcher recommended the necessity of building educational ‎content related to the principles and values of citizenship, training teachers ‎to understand what citizenship is, its dimensions and principles, how to ‎provide it to students, and urging teachers to adopt citizenship as a ‎thought and practice in the school.‎
